Potato to American is like rice to Khmer Krom, potato is the most popular starch in Western diets.
There are many varieties of potato; the famous Idaho bake potatoes are excellent for baked, fried, boiled, mashed. White and red potatoes are great for soup or salad. Yellowish Yukon potatoes usually cost more but it gives this delicious sweet, rich buttery taste. The term “ meat and potato” usually refers to traditional American foods.
Mashed potato usually serves as side dish along with gravy.
- Ingredients :
- 5 Yukon or Idaho baking potatoes, peeled, washed and cut in half
- 5 Cups water
- ½ Stick butter
- ¼ Cup milk
- ½ Teaspoon salt
- Procedures :
Put potatoes and water in a large pot and boiled till potato tender.
Pour cooked potato in a colander to drained.
Immediately, put cooked potatoes, butter, salt and milk in a large bowl.
Mashed potato with electric mixer or manually mixed and mashed it with large spoon to your liking; lumpy or smooth.
Serve hot with tradition brown or white creamy gravy.
