(Steamed tilapia with scallion.)
Tilapia is white meat fish; very low fat, mild and tasty meat.
Steamed fish with scallion oil is Khmer Krom country food. It is very easy prepare and taste delicious.
- Ingredients :
- 1 Whole Tilapia, 1½-2 lbs, or any white meat fish
- 3 Cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 Stalks green onion, chopped
- ¼ Teaspoon salt
- Procedures :
Cleaned fish, removed it scales and guts, keep head and tail on. Put fish in a steam-able dish, rubs salt on fish, put in steamer, steam for 30 minutes or till fish tender.
Heat up a small sauce pan.
When sauce pan is hot, add oil, garlic and onion, sauté till green onion soft, pour scallion oil over steamed fish.
Serve hot with rice, fresh mix vegetables and herbs, and dips with sweet fish sauce, or wraps fish with moisten rice papper, lettuce, fresh herbs, and dips with tamarind dipping sauce.
