Ban Me Thuot(central high land) once belong to Champa is now #2 leading produces coffee in the world. Brazil is #1 in produces coffee, but to me the coffee from Ban Me Thuot tastes the best. The most famous blended coffee from Ban Me Thuot is the fragrant, smooth and tasty coffee Trung Nguyen. Founded by a medical student in 1996, which now have over 500 franchises around the world .
Most Khmer Krom men including my dad are addicted to hot “café phin”(individual slow drips coffee brewer). Every morning and every early evening the coffee shops in Kampuchea Krom (now known as South Viet Nam) are packed with men whom happily waiting for their “café phin” slowly drips to the last drop.
There are 4 popular kinds coffee that Khmer Krom like to drinks:
-Hot black coffee
-Ice black coffee with sugar.
-Hot coffee with condensed milk.
-Ice coffee with condensed milk.
Some Khmer Krom women also addicted to coffee but most women prefers ice coffee with condensed milk or this delicious coffee milk smoothie.
• Ingredients :
  • 3 Cups ice cubes
  • 1 Cup cold black coffee
  • 2 Tablespoons sweet condensed milk
  • 1 Teaspoon sugar
• Procedures :
  In a blender, put ice cubes, coffee, sweet condensed milk and sugar together, blend till it smooth.
  Serve immediately.
  For black coffee smoothie use 2 tablespoons sugar but no condensed milk.
