(Khmer Krom shrimp toasted)
Delicious Khmer Krom recipe with French influenced. Golden, crispy French bread with marinated shrimp is one of the most popular appetizers in Kampuchea Krom.
- Ingredients :
- 1 lb Shrimp, peeled, de-veined and chopped
- 1 Clove garlic, minced
- ¼ Cup chopped sweet yellow onion
- ½ Teaspoon soy sauce
- ¼ Teaspoon sugar
- ¼ Teaspoon black pepper
- ½ Tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 Loaf of day old French bread, slices an inch thick
- ½ Cup vegetable oil for deep fry
- Procedures :
In a large bowl, mix shrimp with garlic, onion, soy sauce, sugar, black pepper and cornstarch together, mix well.
Spreads marinated shrimp on top each slices of bread, when done set it a side.
Pre heat cooking oil in a wok or skillet with high temperature.
When oil is hot, places bread with meat side up in hot oil, fry bottom side bread till it golden crispy, then turns the meat side down and fry till it golden brown, removed fried bread and put it on a plate covered with paper towel to drain off excessive oil.
Serve hot or warm with hoisin sauce ,
or wraps shrimp toasted with lettuce; fresh herbs, slice cucumber and dips in sweet fish sauce.
